This document (7003064) is provided subject to the disclaimer at the end of this document.

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 Service Pack 2 with Linux kernel 2.6.16.60-0.37
SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 10 Service Pack 2 with Linux kernel 2.6.16.60-0.37
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 with Linux kernel 2.6.27.21-5.1_0.1.2
SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 11 with Linux kernel 2.6.27.21-5.1_0.1.2

Situation

Setting an ACL entry on an NFSv3 mounted file system with "setfacl -m u:myuser:r testfile" results in setfacl returning an "invalid argument" error. This issue was introduced by an incomplete fix to a memory corruption error.

Resolution

No workaround as known at this time. A fix is planned for the next Linux kernel update.
