Applying DUD when booting to installation media in EFI mode on SLES 11

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 Service Pack 3 (SLES 11 SP3)
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 Service Pack 4 (SLES 11 SP4)

Situation

Booting to installation media presents a text-based boot menu in the console.  Only three options are available: Installation, Rescue System and Check Installation Media.  The typical F# key options are not available at the bottom of the screen.

Resolution

The SLES11 boot menu will show as follows:



With the "Installation" option highlighted, press the "e" button to edit the menu option in place.  Add dud=1 to the end of the linuxefi line:



With the new option added, press the F10 button or Ctrl-x to boot.
