Gain Competitive Advantage Through Cloud Native Technology

Share

Organizations around the globe recognize the importance of digital transformation to respond to the demands of the modern world. Organizations can advance their business by adapting technology, processes and tools. By doing so, they can increase flexibility, efficiency, security and improve customer experiences to boost success and gain competitive advantage. However, digital transformation is not always easy.

As IT departments battle against the complexity of managing multiple systems – not to mention integration and security challenges, technology silos and lack of scalability – cloud native technology (CNT) is providing a solution for many of the obstacles to digital transformation.

Here’s what a recent global survey is revealing about the power of cloud native technology.

Survey shows cloud native technology improves competitive advantage

In Foundry’s 2022 MarketPulse Survey for SUSE, an incredible 38% of large organizations that had adopted cloud native technology said they had either increased innovation or created new revenue streams as a result. That number rose to 49% for organizations that had fully adopted cloud native technology across their entire application environment. And that isn’t all – 46% percent of surveyors discovered improved flexibility in meeting customers or business demand, and 90% said that CNT reduced downtime and the time to detect errors. Data security has also been improved for 48% of respondents.

Combined, these benefits allow organizations to improve their reliability, response times and service levels to customers. These organizations are poised to respond to market and customer needs changes and offer products or services accordingly to boost their competitive advantage.

How does cloud native technology improve competitive advantage?

Cloud native technology encompasses many tools and solutions born in the cloud. By building applications in the cloud, organizations are not tied to proprietary hardware, which is costly, inflexible and hard to scale. Examples of CNT include containers, Kubernetes, microservices architecture and open source tools. Cloud native technology that relies on open source has the added benefit of being part of an open community of developers that celebrates collaboration and transparency, providing continuous improvement and growth opportunities.

Cloud native technology powers collaboration

They say that people are an organization’s best asset, and cloud native technology helps bring those people together to give organizations an advantage over their competitors. 91% of CNT users have seen an improvement in collaboration across DevOps, developers and IT operations.  Nine out of ten organizations reported increased efficiency in onboarding new team members.

Getting your best assets up to speed quickly and collaborating more will help to maximize their value, extending competitive advantage. While providing a working environment with cutting-edge technology and working practices is also helping organizations to attract and retain the best talent.

The benefits of cloud native technology are so well received that 77% of enterprise companies globally have already adopted it in at least some areas and 70% expect investment in this area to grow in the next 12 months.
