New Pricing Model for SUSE Enterprise Container Management Products: Rancher Prime, Longhorn, Harvester & NeuVector subscriptions

SUSE is introducing a new, streamlined, unified pricing model that will apply to all the products in the Enterprise Container Management (ECM) Portfolio to allow for effective value realization for customers and make it easier for distributors and partners to transact. This change encompasses the entire ECM portfolio covering Rancher Prime (paid subscription offering for Rancher), Longhorn, Harvester and NeuVector. 

Product Information

With the introduction of Rancher Prime, SUSE has now created a formal enterprise subscription offering on top of open-source Rancher and replaces the SUSE Rancher offering that was offered to date. The Full-featured product is still 100% open-source and continues to embrace our true, open-source first ethos. Rancher by SUSE is therefore now available as two options 1) Rancher –Full–featured Multi-Cluster Kubernetes Management Solution 2) Rancher Prime – Full–featured Multi-Cluster Kubernetes Management Solution with SLA backed support, trusted, private registry delivery and security certifications.  

To allow for simplicity in pricing models for our customers and partners, all Enterprise Container Management offerings have now been normalized to a singular node metric with tiered pricing to allow for effective value realization with scale. This change comes with the following set of conditions: 

1. Rancher Prime subscription now allows for smaller purchases with minimum node counts of at least 5 nodes. 
2. Longhorn and Harvester subscriptions can be sold only to customers that have already purchased Rancher Prime or are simultaneously purchasing Rancher Prime. The number of nodes for Longhorn purchases can be different, but the customer must be fully licensed for what they are using. In cases involving Harvester, the purchased node counts should be equal to the Rancher Prime node counts. 
3. NeuVector can be sold without Rancher Prime as a standalone offering. 
4. The separate purchase of a Rancher Prime Management Server is no longer required. The new pricing model allows for a fixed entitlement of Rancher Prime Management Servers with the option to request additional servers if necessary.  
5. Rancher Nodes and Cloud Nodes are all treated the same in this pricing model.
6. This pricing change allows for dedicated part numbers to cover Production deployments  and non-production/staging nodes. 
7. The tiered pricing model is volume based and not progressive. There is a part number for each tier and the quantity ordered must be within the tier range. 
8. All purchases will be considered independently. 
9. This model excludes nodes utilized by the Rancher Prime Management Server for its own installation.
