Ubuntu 20.04 product is missing on SUSE Manager server

This document (000020282) is provided subject to the disclaimer at the end of this document.

Environment

SUSE Manager 4.0
SUSE Manager 4.1

Situation

After updating spacewalk-utils to either 4.0.20-3.27.1 (SUSE Manager 4.0)  or 4.1.15-3.15.1 (SUSE Manager 4.1), Ubuntu 20.04 is not mirrorable anymore via mgr-sync or using the WebUI:

Admin -> Setup Wizard -> Products

There are no errors in logs, or failure when mgr-sync refresh is used. With enabled debug for ContentSyncManager, /var/log/rhn/rhn_web_ui.log shows that authentication for Ubuntu 20.04 fails at ubuntu-2004-amd64-main-security-amd64:

DEBUG com.redhat.rhn.manager.content.ContentSyncManager - Ubuntu 20.04 - ubuntu-2004-amd64-main-security-amd64 isPublic: true hasAuth: false

Resolution

Whitelist http://security.ubuntu.com/ URL in proxy/firewall configuration.

After this change run mgr-sync refresh so that SUSE Manager is able to authenticate to the new URL during refresh of products.

Cause

Ubuntu 20.04 security channel repo URL changed from http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/focal-security/main/binary-amd64/ to http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/focal-security/main/binary-amd64/

When only some selected 3rd party product URLs are allowed in network, it is likely to not notice this change, and so this new URL remains restricted.

Additional Information

Enabled debug in /srv/tomcat/webapps/rhn/WEB-INF/classes/log4j.properties:

log4j.logger.com.redhat.rhn.manager.content.ContentSyncManager=DEBUG
