This document (7016707) is provided subject to the disclaimer at the end of this document.

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 Service Pack 4
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for SAP Applications 11 Service Pack 4

Situation

A running SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 Service Pack 4 needs to be migrated to SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for SAP Applications 11 Service Pack 4 without reinstalling it. This TID explains the process.

Resolution

NOTE:
The below link is broken.
The script for SLES11 SP4 is not publicly available anymore and the article will be archived soon.
SLES11 SP4 LTSS for SLES11 SP4 for SAP LTSS ends March/2022.

The script for SLES12 and SLES15 is available in the respective repositories.

For reference the original description of the process will be kept:

Use an interactive script (migrate-sles11sp4-to-sles4sap).

NOTE: The script is only working if you registered the server directly to the Customer Center.

Download the following RPM file:
    migrate-sles11sp4-to-sles4sap-11.4-2.1.noarch.rpm

Install the RPM:
    # rpm -Uhv migrate-sles11sp4-to-sles4sap-11.4-2.1.noarch.rpm

After installation run the interactive script and follow the instruction on the screen:
       # Migrate_SLES11-SP4_to_SLES11-for-SAP-SP4.sh

Please note that in case you do have packages installed that have dependencies against IBM Java, you may have to reinstall them at the end of the procedure.

Reboot the system to apply all changes
