SARnn missing data from 18:00 till 24:00

This document (7009312) is provided subject to the disclaimer at the end of this document.

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 Service Pack 1

Situation

sysstathas been configured to collect data.
In /var/log/sa/sarnn only data until 18:00 is available.

Resolution

The problem is with /etc/cron.d/sysstat. Checking this file, it will show:
#crontab for sysstat

# activity reports every 10 minutes everyday
-*/10 * * * *     root  /usr/lib64/sa/sa1 -d 1 1

# update reports every 6 hours
0 */6 * * *       root  /usr/lib64/sa/sa2 -A

This will generate the last sarnn at 18:00 hour. In SLES10 there is an extra line, that will create the sarnn around 23:53. Adding the following line to /etc/cron.d/sysstat will solve this problem:
# Generate a daily summary of process accounting at 23:53
53 23 * * *       root  /usr/lib64/sa/sa2 -A
