Situation

What SNMP support is available in the SLE10 products?

Resolution

The SLE10 products include a number of packages which provide SNMP support.

net-snmp

Upstream project homepage: http://www.net-snmp.org/

The net-snmp package provides command line tools to get and set data from/on SNMP-capable devices, a daemon which can process and respond to SNMP traps, as well as an agent that can provide management information about a system via SNMP.

perl-SNMP

The perl-SNMP package provides a Perl API for SNMP.

php5-snmp

The php5-snmp package provides a PHP extension that allows fetching and setting data from/to SNMP-capable devices.

Ethereal (Wireshark)

The Ethereal network analysis tool (now renamed to Wireshark) can be used to capture and analyse network traffic. It supports SNMP protocol analysis.
