Samba Printing in an AD Enviroment (SAMBA, PRINT)

This document (7022709) is provided subject to the disclaimer at the end of this document.

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 12

Situation

Trying to setup Printer from an AD Print Server does not work. No printers show up. Entering commandline

   smbclient -L //192.168.36.61/su-se-42 -U susenet/myprint -m SMB2

Connection to 192.168.36.61 failed (Error NT_STATUS_RESOURCE_NAME_NOT_FOUND)

fails too.

Resolution

The AD does not respond to the minimal client protocol offered by the Samba Server. Setting
in

/etc/samba/smb.conf

   client min protocol = SMB2
   client max protocol = SMB3

resolves the issue.
