11-digit SR number limit in YaST support module

This document (7020913) is provided subject to the disclaimer at the end of this document.

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Workstation Extension 12
SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 12
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11

Situation

YaST support module still enforce the 11-digit SR number limit:
  1. Launch YaST support module with either "yast2 support" or "yast support"
  2. Select "Collection Data" [Create report tarball], and click "Next"
  3. In "Supportconfig Contact Configuration" page, Service Request Number field enforces user to provide a 11-digit SR number (otherwise an Error Dialog will show "The SR number must be 11 digits")

Resolution

Patch will be provided in future release. Meanwhile, please use command line tool (i.e. supportconfig) to upload system info to SuSE ftp server.
CAVEAT: supportutils with version number earlier than 3.0-76 also has this 11-digit SR number limit issue; please follow KB 7017476 - supportconfig-. "ERROR: Invalid SR Number, -r 12345678"  for a workaround.
