This document (7015732) is provided subject to the disclaimer at the end of this document.

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 Service Pack 3
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 Service Pack 3 for VMware
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for SAP Applications 11 Service Pack 3

Situation

A running SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 Service Pack 3 or SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 Service Pack 3 for VMware system needs to be migrated to SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for SAP Applications 11 Service Pack 3 without reinstalling it. This TID explains the process.

Resolution

Use an interactive script.

NOTE: If you are using SMT, please make sure that the SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for SAP Applications 11 SP3 Channels have been synchronized to your SMT before starting the migration!

Download the script:TID7015732_v2_SLES-for-SAP-Migration.tar

In case of a SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 Service Pack 3, use the file named TID7015732_Migrate_SLES11-SP3_to_SLES11-for-SAP-SP3.sh

If you are instead using SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 Service Pack 3 for VMware use TID7015732_Migrate_SLES-11-SP3-for-VMware_to_SLES11-for-SAP-SP3.sh

Save the file in the /tmp/ directory and run the script as root:
sh /tmp/TID7015732_Migrate_SLES11-SP3_to_SLES11-for-SAP-SP3.sh

or

sh /tmp/TID7015732_Migrate_SLES-11-SP3-for-VMware_to_SLES11-for-SAP-SP3.sh

Please note that in case you do have packages installed that have dependencies against IBM Java, you may have to reinstall them at the end of the procedure.

Reboot the system to apply all changes
