Package List Refresh failing to execute

This document (000021392) is provided subject to the disclaimer at the end of this document.

Environment

SUSE Manager 4.3 Server (4.3.11)

Situation

Certain actions i.e. "Package List Refresh" are failing to execute, and an event summary is displayed in the WebUI accordingly.

Examples of the failure:

This action will be executed after 2/28/24 12:15:15 AM CET
This action's status is: Failed.
The client completed this action on 2/28/24 12:15:31 AM CET
Client execution returned
Failure
(code 2)

In this case messages below are also appearing in venv_salt_minion.log:
2024-02-20 14:54:43,152 [salt.beacons:89][WARNING ][16777] No validate function found for reboot_info, running basic beacon validation

Resolution

Manually perform a saltutil.sync_all on all clients using this command:
salt '*' --batch-size=<size, e.g. 200> saltutil.sync_all

Cause

The cause for these errors is a missing execution module called reboot_info.reboot_required that's not available on the minion with the failed action.
This module was not automatically synced with the minions on upgrade to SUMA 4.3.11, thus it will not be available on all clients that haven't had their salt-minion service restarted or had a saltutil.sync_all run since the update.
