Situation

When configuring DASD on IBM zSeries with YaST a pop-up with the following error appears:

code: 127 Error output: No such file or directory -
/sbin/mkinitrd

In /var/log/YaST2/y2log a similar error will be shown:

Exit code: 127
Error output: No such file or directory - /sbin/mkinitrd

Resolution

The yast2-s390 update (yast2-s390-4.5.4-150500.3.6.3) with the patch replacing 'mkinitrd' with 'dracut' was released April/2024.

Cause

One of the source codes still contains a call to /sbin/mkinitrd instead to its replacement, dracut.
