This document (000021111) is provided subject to the disclaimer at the end of this document.

Environment

SUSE Manager Server 4.2

Situation

Yum Update on rhel 8 clients fails with the following post-bootstrapping error:

[root@redhat8-test ~]# yum update
Updating Subscription Management repositories.
rhel--8-nonprod-171122-rhel8nprd171122-std-res-x86_64-server-8-baseos 30 kB/s | 3.9 kB 00:00

Resolution

Copy the susemanagerplugin.py file from "/usr/lib/python3.10/site-packages/dnf-plugins/susemanagerplugin.py" to "/usr/lib/python3.6/site-packages/dnf-plugins/"

#cp /usr/lib/python3.10/site-packages/dnf-plugins/susemanagerplugin.py /usr/lib/python3.6/site-packages/dnf-plugins/

Cause

The bootstrap was failing due to a missing file in the python3.10 directory, and was initially fixed after creating a symlink for /usr/lib/python3.6 and /usr/lib/python3.10, however, the error 403 persisted during client update.

The underlying cause of the bootstrap issue and update error 403 was the missing file susemanagerplugin.py at /usr/lib/python3.6/site-packages/dnf-plugins/.
