Running sudo as the root user fails when using SSSD

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 15
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 12
 

Situation

Unable to perform sudo commands as a root user when using SSSD
 
# sudo ls -l
root is not in the sudoers file.  This incident will be reported.

# cat /etc/nsswitch.conf
...
sudoers: sss

Resolution

Append "files" to the "sudoers: sss" line in the /etc/nsswitch.conf file.
 
# cat /etc/nsswitch.conf
...
sudoers: files sss

Cause

To enable SSSD as a source for sudo rules, add sss to the sudoers entry in nsswitch.conf(5). See man sssd-sudo.
