System in hang status due to lpfc FLOGI failure

This document (000021054) is provided subject to the disclaimer at the end of this document.

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for SAP Applications 15 all versions
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 15 all versions

Situation

The system was in a hang status and not accepting ssh connection. Rebooting it through the console and it hung again after a few days. This issue repeated two times.

Resolution

Contact the hardware vendor to check the status of the HBA adapter and the link. The issue was fixed after replacing the target HBA adapter.

Cause

This is a hardware issue. The logs were showing an issue related to the HBA; the link is flapping too much and it failed to access the storage/disks “FLOGI”.
