This document (000019706) is provided subject to the disclaimer at the end of this document.

Environment

SUSE Enterprise Storage 5.5
SUSE Enterprise Storage 6

Situation

Customer needs to have a backup of the admin node in case of a hdd or filesystem failure.

Resolution

It is the Administrators responsiblity to ensure that the SES admin nodes has a current backup.
Snapshots are not considered backups.
Back ups should be saved in a safe location, not on the Admin node and not on the SES cluster.

Mininal directrories to be backed up could include:
/etc/ceph
/etc/salt
/etc/
/srv/pillar
/srv/modules
/srv/salt
/var/cache/salt

However, it is recommended to backup the entire node/host frequently.
