NTP start command produces a warning about Cryptographic keys dir

Environment


SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 Service Pack 3 (SLES 11 SP3)

Situation

When starting NTP (eg. rcntp sstart). the message "Warning: cryptographic keys dir  specified but not found or is not a directory".

Resolution

This appears to be purely cosmetic and has been fixed for future distributions.
For SLES 11 SP3, the ntp-4.2.4p8-1.38.2 package released as a maintenance update in November 2015 addresses the issue.
