This document (7014257) is provided subject to the disclaimer at the end of this document.

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 SP3

Situation

iSCSI installation targets provided via ipv6 fail to connect. The boot process will abort and show messages similar to:
Starting iSCSI daemon
Logging in to [iface: xxxx......
iscsiadm: Could not login to [iface: xxx.....
iscsiadm: initiator reported error (8 - connection timed out)
iscsiadm: no records found

Resolution

A Driver Update Disk (DUD) fixing this issue is available. Please find it and instructions on how to use it at:
http://drivers.suse.com/suse/iscsi-ipv6/sle11sp3-x86_64/

Cause

The initrd disk image isn't built properly in order to use iSCSI in an IPV6 environment. An update for the package mkinitrd is provided within that DUD.
