Problem regarding delta-rpm files on SLES11 when local update server is used

This document (7003199) is provided subject to the disclaimer at the end of this document.

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11
SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 11
SUSE Linux Enterprise Subscription Management Tool

Situation

You have registered SLES/SLED 11 system against your local update server (SUSE Linux Enterprise Subscription Management Tool, SMT). The registration process was completed correctly, and on the clients the Update catalog is added correctly. However the installation of updates fails.
The cause is, that no delta rpm files are provided by SMT, caused by a bug in the rpmmd parser while fetching deltarpm download location paths.

Resolution

The bug is fixed in smt version 1.0.11-0.3 and above. After installing the update, restart the smt service (rcsmt restart), sync the NCC metadata (smt-ncc-sync) and download the deltarpm download location paths (smt-mirror -d -L /var/log/smt-mirror.log).
