SAP Generating 'Database host operating system is not supported' alerts

This document (7023744) is provided subject to the disclaimer at the end of this document.

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for SAP Applications

Situation

SAP HANA alert messages are seen which state 'The version of the operating system of SAP HANA Database host <host_server_name> is not supported'.

Resolution

SAP Note 2750199 - Incorrect Alert Regarding Unsupported Operating System Version

SAP Note 2750199 will be updated as soon as a revision/update containing the solution is available

Workaround:-

To disable the alert, you can execute the following command on the SYSTEMDB:
   UPDATE _SYS_STATISTICS.STATISTICS_SCHEDULE SET "STATUS" = 'Inactive' where "ID" = 100;

In SAP HANA Cockpit 2.0, you can disable the alert with below steps:
   Open the SYSTEMDB resource of your SAP HANA installation
   In the Alerting and Diagnostics tile, click Configure alerts
   Search for 100
   Click Edit
   In the Schedule area, click Schedule Active to disable the alert
   Click Save

Cause

Due to a programming error in SAP HANA, the value contained in view m_host_information for key os_name is parsed incorrectly, if it contains unexpected data. This in turn leads to wrongfully triggering alert with ID 100.

Affected Releases:
SAP HANA 2:
   Revisions of SPS00 and SPS01
   Revisions <= 024.08 (SPS02)
   Revisions <= 036.00 (SPS03)
