This document (7023616) is provided subject to the disclaimer at the end of this document.

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 15
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 12
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11

Situation

Researchers have identified a side-channel attack using pagecache statistics,
which can gain information from other processes in the same operating system.

Running sensitive code on the same system as malicious users can lead to
them to potentially gain access to sensitive information.

Resolution

The fix for this problem is a kernel patch to reduce pagecache information exposed to
unprivileged users.

All SUSE Linux Kernels are affected by this problem, and SUSE will be releasing
updates to address the issue in the near future.
This TID will be updated accordingly.

All customers should make sure to update their systems as soon as the fix is released.
