Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 12 Service Pack 1 (SLES 12 SP1)
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 12 Service Pack 2 (SLES 12 SP2)

Situation

DHCP request cycling through all available interfaces instead of “ib0”.
After initial PXE boot and once the installation program loads, the DHCP requests cycle through all the available Ethernet interfaces before eventually getting to “ib0” . In the process it spends quite a bit of time on the Ethernet interfaces.

Resolution

Use netdevice=ib0 to have linuxrc use ib0 for installation.
