Update / registration fails with "Error occurred while setting download (curl) options"

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11
SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 11

Situation

When trying to register or when running Online Update, it fails with the error message

"Error occured while setting download (curl) options for https://nu.novell.com/?credentials=NCCcredentials"


Resolution

Please download the following patches only for the architecture you use from:

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server x86:
https://download.novell.com/Download?buildid=8eM5XSIXVTM~

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server x86_64:
https://download.novell.com/Download?buildid=SodoY-EnzRs~

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server ppc:
https://download.novell.com/Download?buildid=TkMGQ15OKxM~

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server s390x:
https://download.novell.com/Download?buildid=32N8O9s_z9U~

SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop x86:
https://download.novell.com/Download?buildid=9PpUx85QTUc~

SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop x86_64:
https://download.novell.com/Download?buildid=5PXBAYCg9EE~

Then, install them manually using:

# rpm -Fhv *.rpm

After this please register or start the online update again.

Additional Information

The latest zypper update is missing a dependency on the curl update from 2009/08/07 - so the curl packages need to be installed manually.
