Changes in SLES registration regarding PPC and IA64 architecture

This document (7003495) is provided subject to the disclaimer at the end of this document.

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11
PowerPC and IA64 Architecture only

Situation

Starting June 10th, 2009, all existing SLES entitlements will be limited to the x86 and x86_64 architectures. Access to PPC and IA64 update catalogs will be removed from these registration codes. New registrations with existing entitlements will give access to x86 and x86_64 update catalogs only. This will cause a new registration of a PowerPC or Itanium SLES system via the YaST Novell Customer Center registration module to fail, if an existing code is used.

Please note, that already registered PPC and IA64 devices will continue to operate unaffected until the expiration of the registration!

Resolution

PPC and IA64 customers need contact Novell to obtain new codes before being able to register the sytem. Please contact the Customer Resolution Team at CustomerResolution@novell.com.
