acpiphp.ko does not work on SLES9-SP4 for hot plug slots behind bridges

This document (7002345) is provided subject to the disclaimer at the end of this document.

Environment

Novell SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9 Service Pack 4

Situation

The Linux acpiphp.ko hotplug driver does not work.  The acpiphp driver does not recurse down PCI bridges to look for hot-plug (ejectable) slots. On hot plug capable servers in which hot plug slots reside behind bridges (virtual bridges, that is, PCI-E switches), the operating system cannot execute hotplug on IO cards attached to the server.

Resolution

The support for this functionality is available in SLES 10 SP2.
