Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 10

Situation

Resolution

SUSE Linux enterprise Desktop (SLED) 10 comes with an End Users License Agreement (EULA) that is presented to the user during the time of installation. However each individual package within SLED has its own license. Therefore the proper answer is that SLED has multiple licenses depending on which package you are talking about. Rather than publishing the enormous list in this document, the intent of this document is to show you how to generate the list yourself.

  1. There is an ARCHIVES.gz file which is located on the root of the DVD or first CD of the SLED product.

  2. Place the CD or DVD in the CDROM or DVDROM on your Linux workstation.

  3. Cut and paste the following command into a terminal.

    zgrep License: /media/SLED100_001/ARCHIVES.gz | grep -v /src/ | cut -d/ -f 5- | cut -d: -f 1,4 | sort >> license.txt

Note:You may need to change the path to your ARCHIVES.gz file if it is different than the one shown here.

  4. This will create a license.txt in your current directory that lists the packages and license they use in the following the format of package: license.
