AutoYaST aborts with "Unable to write idmapd.conf"

Environment


SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 SP1

Situation

When using AutoYaST with a NFS server configuration the automatic installation stops in the YaST NFS setup module with the error message:
Unable to write idmapd.conf

Resolution

This is a bug in the YaST NFS server module which is fixed by a maintenance update and is included in SLES10 SP2.

You can work around the problem by disabling NFSv4 in /etc/sysconfig/nfs:

NFS4_SUPPORT="no"
