Novell SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 10
Novell SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10

In some cases yast is unable to detect or configure the network card on workstations or servers with a Broadcom 57xx gigabit ethernet controller.

There is a community built driver that may be downloaded from that may resolve this problem. The driver may be downloaded from either of the two following links:

Download the driver appropriate for your kernel. (NOTE: If kernel running on the system is NOT known, issue the uname -a command from a terminal prompt)
Once the driver has been downloaded, double-click on the rpm to begin the install, or install it from a terminal prompt by entering the following command as root:
rpm -i
(i.e. rpm -i broadcom-tg3-kmp-bigsmp-3.69c_2.6.16.27_0.6-0.i586.rpm)

After installing the driver go back into Yast and configure the network card.
