Unable to login with KDE with a LUM user - "pwnam &<user> failed"

Environment

Novell Linux User Management (LUM)
Novell SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10
Novell SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9

Situation

Installed Novell Linux User Management. Can do an id and see the user so LUM is working. Also can ssh to the server with the username or su to the user. But cannot login with the KDE.
Error: "pwnam failed" in the log file.
Search: pwname lum oes oessp2

Resolution

Server had never been rebooted since the install of Linux User Management.
Restarting the server corrected the issue.
