Novell SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9 for S/390 and IBM zSeries
Novell SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9 for IBM zSeries

The size of the long double floating point type on Novell SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9 for IBM mainframes is only 64 bit.

The C compiler GCC-3.3 which has been used to build SLES9 only supports IEEE 754 floating point values with a word size of 64 bit. Thus, the type long double has the same size as the regular double type. As the size of double is implementation specific and the size of long double just needs to be larger or equal than double, the implementation is conforming to C99.

GCC-4-1on SLES10 implements the extended binary floating point type with a word size of 128 bit for long double.
