Invalid certificate received from server in Novell Customer Center

Environment

SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 (SLES 10)
SuSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 10 (SLED 10)
Novell Customer Center
Subscription Management Tool (SMT)
rug
zypper

Situation

A system being activated in Novell Customer Center is returning the following error:

ERROR: Could not add 'https://update.novell.com': Failed to download XML metadata: Download failed: (https://update.novell.com/repo/repoindex.xml) Invalid certificate received from server.

Resolution

Verify that the time is correct on the server. Point the server to an external NTP source by going to YaST | Network Services | NTP Client and configure a time server.

Rerun the Customer Center Configuration once time is correct.
