  1. The KDE Display Manager (kdm) has a separate configuration option for the Num Lock feature. This can be found by editing thekdmrc file found in the/etc/opt/kde3/share/config/kdm directory. You should see the following section:

    # What to do with the Num Lock modifier for the time the greeter is running:
    # "Off" - turn off
    # "On" - turn on
    # "Keep" - do not change the state
    # Default is Keep

  2. Uncomment the #NumLock=Off line by removing the# symbol and change theOff to On so that it looks like the following:

  3. Save the file and next time that you are in the KDE Display Manager you should have Num Lock available for use.
