Error copying SSL CA certificate during SUSE Manager 4.3 to SUSE Multi-Linux Manager 5 migration

This document (000021840) is provided subject to the disclaimer at the end of this document.

Environment

SUSE Multi-Linux Manager 5.0
SUSE Manager Server 4.3

Situation

After executing the migration command from SUSE Multi-Linux Manager 5.0 to upgrade the server:

# mgradm migrate podman SUMA4FQDN

Fails with the symlink errors:

11:03AM INF Enabling system service
11:03AM INF Server migrated
11:03AM INF Copying the SSL CA certificate to the host
Error: "/etc/pki/trust/anchors/LOCAL-RHN-ORG-TRUSTED-SSL-CERT" could not be found on container uyuni-server: copier: stat: error resolving "/etc/pki/trust/anchors/LOCAL-RHN-ORG-TRUSTED-SSL-CERT": open /etc/pki/trust/anchors/LOCAL-RHN-ORG-TRUSTED-SSL-CERT: too many levels of symbolic links
Error: failed to add SSL CA certificate to host trusted certificates: exit status 125

Resolution

Verify whether the symlink on /etc/pki/trust/anchors/LOCAL-RHN-ORG-TRUSTED-SSL-CERT exists in the SUMA 4.3 server or not:

# ll /etc/pki/trust/anchors/LOCAL-RHN-ORG-TRUSTED-SSL-CERT
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 44 Sep 28 2021 /etc/pki/trust/anchors/LOCAL-RHN-ORG-TRUSTED-SSL-CERT -> /srv/www/htdocs/pub/RHN-ORG-TRUSTED-SSL-CERT

If so,  please remove the symlink and copy the actual physical file before migrating:

# sudo rm /etc/pki/trust/anchors/LOCAL-RHN-ORG-TRUSTED-SSL-CERT
# sudo ls -l /etc/pki/trust/anchors/
