Microsoft Azure Site Recovery (ASR) "involflt" kernel module causes an unexpected restart

This document (000021004) is provided subject to the disclaimer at the end of this document.

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for SAP Applications 15 Service Pack 3
Microsoft Azure Site Recovery (ASR)

Situation

The Microsoft Azure Site Recovery (ASR) "involflt" kernel module causes an unexpected restart of an Azure instance.

This behavior was observed with the following installed kernel package version:

   "kernel-default-5.3.18-150300.59.109.1"

in combination with the following installed Microsoft Azure Site Recovery version:

   Version - 9.52.1.6591

-

Additional information and output from command:

# /usr/bin/journalctl --no-pager --boot 0

Resolution

There are at least two possible workarounds:

1- Reboot from previously installed kernel version
2- Disable Microsoft Azure Site Recovery (ASR) extension

Cause

The kernel version "5.3.18-150300.59.109-default" was not tested in combination with the used Microsoft Azure Site Recovery (ASR) version - 9.52.1.6591.
