After product migration apply highstate fails for the "sle-module-cap-tools-release" package.

This document (000021003) is provided subject to the disclaimer at the end of this document.

Environment

SUSE Manager Server 4.3

Situation

After upgrading a client from SLES15 SP3 to SLES15 SP4 the highstate fails with the following error:

ID: pkg_latest
Function: pkg.latest
Name: pkg_latest
Result: false
Comment: No information found for 'sle-module-cap-tools-release'.
Started: 13:21:01.231346
Duration: 7915.982
SLS: packages.packages_cd3a8b394a4e4de88ec10833783cbc7a
Changed: {}

Resolution

Remove the Package State monitoring option for the problematic package by setting it to "Unmanaged".

Cause

With SLES15 SP4 the "SUSE Cloud Application Platform Tools Module" (sle-module-cap-tools) was removed and is not present anymore as with SLES15 SP3. This results in the release package being removed during the product migration if this module was enabled on a client but the state monitoring for the package is still in effect.

Additional Information

To view the list of package states for a client, in the web graphical interface go to Systems, System List, select the problematic client, States, Packages. The drop down box on the right hand side of the packages shows the set state and has the options "Unmanaged", "Installed" or "Removed".
