What is difference in sbd's crashdump and fence_kdump agent
This document (000020899) is provided subject to the disclaimer at the end of this document.
If users want to have kdump generated upon fencing, just use sbd's crashdump. There's no need to use fence_kdump.
In case users want to use a different fencing mechanism such as ipmi rather than sbd, and want to have kdump successfully generated upon kernel crashing before ipmi cuts the power of the machine, use fence_kdump together with ipmi.
fence_kdump agent is not a fencing mechanism and must not be used alone. It does not achieve fencing and it doesn't even trigger kdump.
