Bootstrapping Oracle SUSE Manager Client fails with "Error: Failed to download metadata for repo"

Environment

SUSE Manager 4.2
SUSE Manager 4.1
Oracle Clients

Situation

A fresh installation of Oracle Linux fails to bootstrap to SUSE Manager with "Error: Failed to download metadata for repo".

Resolution

On the Oracle client system, run the following command to disable the public repositories:
# find /etc/yum.repos.d/ -type f -not -name susemanager*.repo | xargs sed -i 's/enabled=1/enabled=0/g'

Cause

After installing Oracle Linux, the Oracle public repositories are added and enabled by default. If the system can't reach the public repositories then the bootstrapping will fail.

Additional Information

Here is an example of this error in the bootstrap output:

Errors during downloading metadata for repository 'ol8_baseos_latest':
  - Curl error (6): Couldn't resolve host name for https://yum.oracle.com/repo/OracleLinux/OL8/baseos/latest/x86_64/repodata/repomd.xml [Could not resolve host: yum.oracle.com]
Error: Failed to download metadata for repo 'ol8_baseos_latest': Cannot download repomd.xml: Cannot download repodata/repomd.xml: All mirrors were tried
package salt is not installed
ERROR: Failed to install all missing packages.
