SUSE Linux Enterprise Server

Situation

Is exporting a common directory via CIFS (Samba) and NFS supported?

Resolution

Exporting a common directory via different network filesystems protocol is not supported.

Cause

Both services are not aware of the other and work with different file locking mechanisms. Under no circumstances is data integrity given if files are opened via both protocols at the same time.
