Bash wait statement is being ignored

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 Service Pack 4 (SLES 11 SP4)

Situation

A problem was introduced with patch 12959: bash-3.2-147.29.1 (released on 27th January 2017) which can cause the wait statement not to be honored.

Resolution

The problem is corrected in patch 13234: bash-3.2-147.41.1 (released on 18th August 2017).

Cause

Bug.
