Environment

SUSE Manager 3.1

Situation

This problem is only seen when the SUSE Manager 3.1 server has been upgrade from SUSE Manager 3.0x

As noted in the release notes jabberd can now use sqlite in place of the berkeley db database to improve stability and performance, sqlite is the preferred database option for jabberd.

Fresh installations of SUSE Manager 3.1 Server will use sqlite by default.

Existing installation need to manually switch to this database as follows

      # systemctl stop jabberd
      # spacewalk-setup-jabberd
      # systemctl start jabberd

After this the following error is spawned in the messages file:
2017-07-24T15:13:17.939726+02:00  jabberd/c2s[97309]: sqlite (authreg): no such table: authreg
2017-07-24T15:13:17.941846+02:00  jabberd/c2s[97309]: sqlite (authreg): no such table: authreg
2017-07-24T15:13:17.942099+02:00  jabberd/c2s[97309]: sqlite (authreg): no such table: authreg

2017-07-24T15:13:19.266225+02:00  jabberd/c2s[97309]: sqlite (authreg): no such table: authreg

Resolution

To overcome this problem the sqlite database will need to be recreated using the following steps:
# systemctl stop jabberd
# /usr/share/spacewalk/setup/jabberd/create_sqlite3_database
# systemctl start jabberd

Cause

In certain scenarios the database is not created correctly, this will result in an empty database.
# ls -lh /var/lib/jabberd/db/sqlite.db
-rw-r--r-- 1 jabber jabber 0 Jul 12 10:32 /var/lib/jabberd/db/sqlite.db
