Registration fails on Unisys sPar

This document (7016415) is provided subject to the disclaimer at the end of this document.

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 Service Pack 3 (SLES 11 SP3)
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 12 (SLES 12)

Situation

Registration fails on Unisys sPar

Resolution

Cause

Additional Information

The Unisys sPar technology operates like a hypervisor with the differentiation that the partitions have hard commits to resource allocations. The systems should be able to leverage unlimited virtualization subscriptions, but these codes do not work as the suse_register and suse_connect scripts do not detect the system correctly. They should be viewed as a hypervisor based system from a licensing and activation perspective.

SLES11 SP4 and SLES12 SP1 have been updated and are expected to handle sPar registration properly.
