Bootstrapping full virtualized client prints libvirt: XML-RPC error

This document (7014956) is provided subject to the disclaimer at the end of this document.

SUSE Manager 1.7

Bootstrapping a full virtualized system (e.g. on VMware ESX) prints the following messages before exiting:
libvirt: XML-RPC error : Failed to connect socket to '/var/run/libvirt/libvirt-sock-ro': No such file or directory
Warning: Could not retrieve virtualization information!
libvirtd service needs to be running.
-bootstrap complete-

Please remove any virtualization entitlement from the key defined on the SUSE Manager.

The virtualization (and virtualization platform) entitlement only applies to KVM / XEN based virtualization hosts running libvirt. As this is not the case on VMware, the communication to libvirt fails.
