XEN kernel will not boot after new install

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 Service Pack 1
XEN

Situation

System locks up when booting to Xen after a fresh install.
The default kernel boots just fine.

Resolution

Change the bootloader settings in the BIOS to "Legacy". 

Additional Information

The current version of XEN shipping with SLES 11 SP1 does not support the UEFI / elilo bootloader BIOS option that some new systems have enabled by default.
