Unable to use lomount to mount XEN DomU disk images

This document (7006822) is provided subject to the disclaimer at the end of this document.

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 Service Pack 1

Situation

Access to a Xen DomU disk image is needed for file system level management, troubleshooting and boot issues. In SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 this could be accomplished with the lomount command as described in TID 3756370 - Mounting Xen DomU disk images in Dom0 using lomount.

Resolution

The lomount command is deprecated and unavailable in SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11. DomU disk images can be mounted using xm block-attach.

This process is covered in detail in: TID 7000062: XEN: Attaching disk images or raw disks with LVM volume groups in Dom0 for disaster recovery
