Dependency problem when upgrading to SLES10-SP3 via Patch-CD

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 Service Pack 3

Situation

During an upgrade of SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 Service Pack 2 (SLES10-SP2) to Service Pack 3 (SLES10-SP3) a patch dependency error is displayed:

There are no installable providers of SPident == 0.9-74.23 for patch slesp2o-sp2_online-5018-0.noarch

Resolution

Prior to the upgrade to SLES10-SP3 make sure that the system is on the latest patch level. At least the latest SPident patch has to be installed, which can be downloaded at http://download.novell.com/patch/finder/. The version number should be 0.9-74.23 or greater.

Additional Information

On a SLES10-SP2 system the above SPident patch does not change any files.The patch is just necessary in order to have the patch-object installed to avoid the issue described above during the migration from SP2 to SP3.
