Virtual Machine Driver Pack not able to register after installation

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 Service Pack 2
SUSE Linux Enterprise Virtual Machine Driver Pack Service Pack 2

The SUSE Linux Enterprise Virtual Machine Driver Pack Support Pack 2 (VMDP) does not register after installation. Only a input field for the SLES10 activation code is available.

This situation may be faced if the product installation finished but the product is not being marked as installed in the product database. Use the command to mark VMDP as installed:

Additional Information

To check whether the above condition applies please use the command

    /usr/lib/zmd/query-pool products

to get a listing of installed products. On a 64bit system the path is

    /usr/lib64/zmd/query-pool products

The output should look like:
host:~ # /usr/lib/zmd/query-pool products

In this case only SLES10 and VMDP are installed but the VMDP is not marked as installed (note the missing 'i' in front of VMDP). The following messages will be received when executing:

Restoring system sources...
Parsing metadata for SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 SP2...
Parsing metadata for SLES10-SP2-Pool...
Parsing metadata for SLES10-SP2-Updates...
Parsing metadata for SUSE-Linux-Enterprise-Virtual-Machine-Driver-Pack 10-2...
Parsing RPM database...
Continue? [y/n]:

Answer the question above with 'y' and check afterwards with /usr/lib/zmd/query-pool products again if VMDP is marked as installed:
host:~ # /usr/lib/zmd/query-pool products

'rug ca' should now show the appropriate update channel for VMDP:
host:~ # rug ca

The system will now receive updates for VMDP via rug or YaST2 Online Update.
