Kernelupdate 2.6.16.60-0.34 on ia64 causing problems with modules compiled for earlier versions

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 Service Pack 2

Situation

Kernelrelease 2.6.16.60-0.34 is causing problems if modules compiled for earlier versions are loaded.
These modules might cause an oops.

Note that this is only affects the ia64 architecture! Other architectures are not affected.

Modules compiled for -0.34 shouldn't cause any problems and work just fine.

This kernel can be used as long as no modules compiled for previous kernels are loaded.

 

Resolution

Kernel release 2.6.16.60-0.34 ia64 has been removed from the update servers.

Kernel 2.6.16.60-0.35 which fixes the issue is now released.

Please update at your earliest convenience.
