MPIO with faulty/ghost paths to MSA1000 SAN

This document (3182194) is provided subject to the disclaimer at the end of this document.

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10

Situation

HP StorageWorks 1000/1500 Modular Smart Array (MSA1000/MSA1500)

Multiple paths are showing up as faulty or ghost. There is an error message ERROR: device not found in pathvec in the multipath -v2 output.

Resolution

Update the MSA1000 firmware. There is an issue with older firmware that will make paths faulty if active and passive devices are attached to the SAN.
