SUSE Cloud Application Platform: Announcing version 2.0

SUSE Cloud Application Platform is a modern application platform enabling cloud native productivity at scale with industry-proven automation for Kubernetes. It minimizes manual IT configuration to accelerate application and service delivery, creating business value faster. Developers use self-service Cloud Foundry APIs and interfaces to get applications into the cloud in minutes instead of weeks. Operators manage the platform using standard Kubernetes tools like Helm.

Streamlining application delivery opens a clear path to increased business agility, led by enterprise development, operations, and DevOps teams.

SUSE Cloud Application Platform helps enterprises:

  • Boost developer productivity with easy deployment of cloud native applications using the language and framework most appropriate for the task.
  • Manage application delivery at scale with governance and control over multi-cloud, multi-cluster, and multi-tenant environments.
  • Increase efficiency with a platform that is easy to install, fault tolerant, and centrally managed.

Product Information

SUSE Cloud Application Platform 2.0 is built on Quarks, KubeCF, and Stratos Console. These Cloud Foundry components make it easier than ever to deploy and manage applications and services on Kubernetes.

  • Quarks is a Kubernetes operator that adds Custom Resource Definitions (CRDs) for the management of complex applications. These CRDs enable features like canary or blue-green deployments, automated secret management, and Kubernetes jobs with their own versioned secrets. These features are used by KubeCF, but can be used to port other BOSH releases to Kubernetes or to improve lifecycle management to any Kubernetes workload.
  • KubeCF is the new upstream distribution of Cloud Foundry Application Runtime (CFAR) for Kubernetes. This SUSE-led project is built on the experience of SUSE Cloud Foundry (SCF) and is a central part of the continued evolution of Cloud Foundry into a Kubernetes-native platform and ecosystem. This release includes the latest CFAR components such as Eirini (Technical Preview) and updated buildpacks and stacks for user applications.
  • Stratos Console now includes full support for Helm 3 and features revised Workloads views for easily inspecting application settings and pod metrics. Container images can now be deployed to Cloud Foundry endpoints directly via the UI.

Subscription Offerings

SUSE Cloud Application Platform is available under one or three-year Priority or Standard Support subscriptions. Subscriptions are priced on the number of physical Cores (or vCPU pairs) used by Kubernetes worker nodes running Cloud Application Platform.

Subscriptions can be purchased with or without infrastructure entitlements (SUSE CaaS Platform) and can be deployed on premise or in the public cloud (Azure AKS, Amazon EKS, or Google GKE).
